Survival English: The Practice of Everyday English poses as something between a manual and an exercise book to touch on some of the most critical issues related to surviving in contemporary Italy, particularly focused on the anomalies of the city of Venice.
The exercises are largely based on research and interviews conducted in 2006 with locals and foreigners (both legal and illegal) forming five modules: Survival Tactics, Immigration, Work, Housing and Crime. The open structure of the book combines text and images, providing blank spaces for filling in.
